Position Summary
Old World Wisconsin is a 600-acre outdoor living history museum located in Eagle, Wisconsin. Guests explore homes, farms, and businesses that come from across Wisconsin, exploring stories of place and perseverance from the 1840s to the 1930s. With a focus on hands exploration and immersive spaces, OWW is a celebrated destination for families and friends making new memories, sharing stories, and connecting to Wisconsin's past as they get inspired for their own futures. Staff work in historic indoor and outdoor spaces in the beauty of the Kettle Moraine State Forest to bring history to life for tens of thousands of guests each summer.
Under the lead of the Maintenance Coordinator, and the supervision of the General Manager - Facilities and Grounds, this individual performs routine maintenance and skilled vehicle and equipment repairs.
Duties :
- Maintain and repair a fleet of gasoline, diesel, propane and electric powered vehicles, including several 40 person passenger trams, pickup trucks, dump truck, tractors, end loader, off-road equipment, auxiliary vehicles and golf carts.
- Use diagnostic equipment to test electrical circuits, transmissions, steering controls, suspension and drive trains.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance, changing oil, replacing tires, batteries, fluids, etc.
- Service and repair air and hydraulic brake systems. Repair and replace power brake units.
- Tune-up gas and diesel engines, both standard and computer-controlled systems
- Diagnose and repair fuel systems, including carburetors and fuel injected systems. Replace fuel pumps, gaskets, seals, belt tensioners and exhaust systems
- Diagnose and repair manual and power steering systems
- Maintain and repair all electronic and electrical systems used on vehicles
- Safely handle and store fuels and chemical supplies for this equipment, observing and enforcing all local, state, and federal fire, safety, chemical handling and hazardous materials regulations.
- Service a wide variety of lawn and garden equipment including commercial mowers, and tillers.
- Perform gas and electric welding fabrication and repair of general and special use equipment.
- Maintain site radio communication and respond to calls.
- Provide assistance and guidance to site visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Become knowledgeable of site safety and emergency procedures including locations of first aid supplies, storm shelter areas and emergency communication procedures.
Schedule :
This is a year-round limited term position. Schedule may include weekends during the open season. 28-34 hours per week.
Salary Information
Pay is $19.75 per hour with a weekend differential of 80 cents per hour. This classification is in schedule and class 03-11.
Please note this is a Limited Term Employment position so it does not include paid time off or benefits upon hire.
Job Details
A criminal background check will be conducted by WHS prior to an offer of employment to determine if the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job.
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours. This position will be part time and average 28-34 hours per week.
Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.
Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.
WHS does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.
