The Division of Adult Institutions is currently recruiting to fill a Nurse Clinician 4 position. This position will be headquartered at Waupun Correctional Institution (WCI) in Waupun, WI.
Position Summary
This position functions independently in an expanded clinical role giving expert direct and indirect nursing care to patients who have complex care needs. Responsibilities include participating as a member of the multidisciplinary team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, consulting with the multi-disciplinary team within the institution, other DOC institutions and the community on planning and evaluating care for patients with multiple medical and psychiatric needs. This position also identifies, develops and implements plans to meet the learning needs of inmate patients, staff, students, and community agencies related to medical care and re-entry of offenders. It also participates in collaborative program planning to meet the health needs of offenders at the institution and in the community when they are due to be discharged. Initiates and participates in research and quality improvement activities.
Salary Information
The starting pay is between $101400 and $113276 per year, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. The pay schedule/range is 11-01. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Job Details
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment.

- Developing, refining, and revising a patient plan of care utilizing continuous patient assessment and evaluation of current treatment plan results.
- Researching findings in correctional nursing, psychiatric nursing, medical/surgical nursing, and/or related fields.
- Coordinating chronic disease management including patient education, care planning, medication monitoring, and nursing and ACP follow-up care
- Collaborating with other supervisors regarding general unit management.
- Evaluating care provided by nursing staff and provide appropriate feedback.
- Identifying and planning to meet learning needs complex chronic disease patients and other nursing staff related to delivering high quality nursing care.
