The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Offender Classification Specialist Advanced position. This position is based out of the Drug Abuse Correctional Center in Winnebago, WI .
Position Summary
This position is responsible for statewide administration, coordination, scheduling and maintenance of program reservations for persons in our care which supports the earned release programs and bed management needs of the Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions (DAI). This position plans, develops, monitors, administers, schedules and implements a statewide reservation system for individuals eligible and suitable of the earned release programs. The position monitors and reviews facility programs and identifies available beds by analyzing the reservation lists and developing a plan to maintain programs at capacity. In addition, the position completes classification hearings per Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC) Administrative Code s. 302 and regulates the classification responsibilities of this position. The completion of BOCM business processes will result in the assignment of inmate custody, site placement and programs. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: enhancing the safety and security of the public, staff, institutions and inmates; collecting information; completing risk and needs assessments; conducting classification hearings in support of DOC Reentry efforts; case planning; preparing accurate and timely reports; effectively managing inmate site transfers; maintaining effective office operations at assigned sites; ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and other tasks as assigned.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule and range 12-63 with a starting pay of $47777 to $88150 annually . Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have: Experience with case planning, case management and case documentation. Experience using risk and/or needs assessment tools. Experience in interview techniques (e.g. motivational interviewing).
In addition to the above, well qualified applicant will have: Experience working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team in a correctional setting Experience planning and developing/implementing classification programs Experience compiling, analyzing, and providing documents related to earned release programs
