The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK)is currently recruiting for a Boat/Pontoon driver limited-term employment (LTE) position to support the King Activities team. WVHK is a long-term-care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional medical services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is located on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O' Lakes, off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton.

Position Summary
Under general supervision of a therapist supervisor, this position will be responsible for piloting and maintaining the facility's pontoon craft and may on occasion driving the outdoor recreation vehicle for scenic rides for members.

Salary Information
The pay for this position is $16.18 per hour with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.
This job does not offer employee benefits.
The position is in pay schedule-pay range 03-08
This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.
Job Details
This LTE position works Monday through Friday. This is mostly daytime hours with an occasional evening.
LTE jobs are limited to 1039 hours in a 12-month period and do not include employee benefits.
Job duties require the ability to, stand, kneel, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, use special safety equipment, and work outdoors.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Qualifications
- passed or able to pass the DNR Boater Safety Course and hold a valid certification;
- experience in pontoon boat operation;
- the ability to follow safety policies and practices;
- experience working independently and as a member of a team
- CPR certification or be willing to be certified
- Ability to assist members on and off the pontoon boat while in wheelchairs or using other assistive devices
- Follow all safety directives related to infectious diseases.
- Assisting members with fishing equipment and putting bait on the hooks.
- Removing fish from the hook
