Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) is recruiting to fill multiple Psychiatric Care Technician Advanced positions in Mauston, WI.
SRSTC is a nationally recognized facility for the treatment of sexual offenders committed under Wisconsin’s Statute 980. As a Psychiatric Care Technician Adv., you will be utilizing role-modeling techniques and security protocols. The training academy is held at SRSTC. It is 8 weeks long Monday - Friday, followed by 2 weeks of on the job training.
Position Summary
The Psychiatric Care Technician-Advanced (PCT) is responsible for participating in the development and implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic activities for patients to provide a basis on which care is conducted. The PCT acts as a role model and engages in patient interactions and activities to assure promotion and reinforcement of socially acceptable behavior. The PCT performs security-related tasks, functions, and responsibilities necessary to assure a clean, safe, and secure environment in accordance with federal, state, DHS, SRSTC, and unit policies and procedures. The PCT attends classes, training, meetings, workshops, etc., to develop competencies and improve work and abilities and increase knowledge.
Salary Information
Starting pay is $21.88 per hour base pay, plus a $4.00 per hour add-on ($25.88/hour total). The pay schedule and range is 05/32. A 12-month probationary period is required. Additional increases to the base pay are based on years of service follow the structure below and pay upon appointment for current or former State employees may vary and will be in accordance with the Compensation Plan.

A $0.80/hour night and weekend differentials will be paid for night and weekend hours worked, The differentials will be combined for a total of $1.60/hour when working a night shift on a weekend.
Job Details
Shifts Available:
- PM Shift (2nd shift) is 3pm -11:30pm
- NOC Shift (3rd shift) is 11:15pm -7:15am
Schedules Include:
- 30-minute unpaid meal break for PM shift
- No meal break for NOC shift, however meal is provided and must stay on grounds.
- Weekends and holidays will be required
- Rotating schedule, with rotations of up to 7 days in a row
- 3-4 consecutive days off over a weekend at least once per month.
- As needed based on operational needs, overtime shifts up to 16 hours total in one shift may be required.
Must be 18 years of age or older upon appointment.
All applicants will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.
All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether they are vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment. At this time, those who are unvaccinated are subject to weekly COVID-19 testing protocols.
Due to the nature of these positions, individuals will be required to undergo a physical ability assessment. You will be required to have your personal Health Care Provider certify that you are able to perform the physical ability assessment. Continuation in the recruitment process is contingent on passing this assessment. You will be allowed three attempts to pass the physical ability assessment. After being appointed, an academic training program will be administered. Applicants must demonstrate academic proficiency by the end of the training period. Psychiatric Care Technician-Adv will also be exposed to CS gas and OC (pepper spray) during the training program.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility after to their start date.

Qualifications
Minimally qualified candidates must have:
- Ability to work a schedule that may include PM & night shifts and occasionally AM shifts. Additionally, must be able to work overtime and Holidays as needed.
- Experience working in a team environment
- Experience working with a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic population
A well-qualified candidate will have:
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate clear and concise observation skills
- Ability to use computer software programs such as an online timekeeping system, Microsoft Outlook, etc. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
