Introduction


The Department of Health Services (DHS), Central Wisconsin Center (CWC) is recruiting for a Staff Development Program Specialist for the Intensive Treatment Program (ITP). CWC provides short-term and long-term residential services to assist people living with intellectual disabilities in acquiring the personal skills needed to reach their highest potential. CWC is located at 317 Knutson Drive on the north side of Madison.

Position Summary


As the Staff Development Program Specialist for the ITP, you will prepare and present learning experiences, assist with planning and developing educational programs and provide consultation in the area of staff training and development. You will be responsible for identifying, developing and delivering specialized training for staff in the ITP and work closely with ITP staff to identify training needs, analyze data, and provide ongoing support.

Salary Information


The starting salary is between $30.00 and $38.00 per hour (approximately between $62,400 and $79,000 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 81/04.

Job Details


All applicants who may be appointed to these positions will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for these positions, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications


Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Experience working with adults or children with behavioral issues including challenges understanding and using language, difficulty understanding and responding to social cues, repetitive movements (i.e., hand flapping, rocking, etc.), difficulty with changes in routine or environment, and self-stimulating behaviors (i.e., biting, hitting oneself, etc.).
  • Experience using adult education methods and principles to develop, plan, coordinate, or deliver training programs for adult learners.
  • Experience using learner evaluation methods to provide coaching, mentoring, or training to other staff.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience following treatment plans and analyzing patient behavior.
  • Experience working in a long-term care facility or with individuals with intellectual disabilities providing active treatment.
  • Experience evaluating training programs through data collection and review.
  • Experience developing or coordinating training programs or educational offerings focusing on behaviors, trauma informed care, suicide prevention, or other related trainings.
