Technician Forestry

Job Overview

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Forestry, is seeking dedicated individuals to fill multiple Forestry Technician positions across various locations, including Barnes, Boulder Junction (Trout Lake), Florence, Jim Falls, Mellen, Mercer, Oconto Falls, Prentice, Wausaukee, and Woodruff. Additional locations may be considered based on availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct technical, administrative, and paraprofessional activities related to fire management, including suppression, pre-suppression, and prevention.
• Operate specialized forest fire control equipment, such as tractor/plows and engines, and serve as certified forest fire equipment operators.
• Issue permits and implement forest fire prevention initiatives.
• Assist in fire inspections and provide technical support for forest management on state, private, or county lands when not engaged in fire suppression duties.
• Maintain physical fitness to meet standards required for Department protective roles, involving active fire suppression tasks that may expose the incumbent to high levels of danger.
