Organization Overview:
The State Preservation Board (SPB) was established for the purpose of preserving, maintaining, and restoring theState Capitol and the 1857 General Land Office, which houses the Capitol Visitors Center. Since that time, Agency operations have expanded to include care of the Governor's Mansion, operating the Bullock Texas State History Museum, Texas State Cemetery, Capitol Mall and three Capitol Complex legislative office buildings. Position Summary:
The Plumber IV performs highly advanced installation, maintenance, and repair work of plumbing systems and components. Responsibilities include coordinating and overseeing the assembly, installation, or repair of pipes, fittings, or fixtures for heating, water, and draining systems. This position may also serve as a lead worker, providing direction and supervision to other team members. This role demands a high degree of initiative, independent judgment, and the ability to work under minimal supervision. Performs highly advanced (senior-level) installation, maintenance, and repair work of plumbing systems and components. Work involves overseeing the assembly, installation, or repair of pipes, fittings, or fixtures of heating, water, and draining systems. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. *Must be able to work with agency's 365 day-per-year schedule and may include weekends, evenings and holidays, including working on short notice.

· Oversees and performs pipe cutting, welding, preassembly, and installation of plumbing systems or components.
· Coordinates and prepares work orders, reports, and records.
· Records backflow testing data onto specified platforms.
· Performs troubleshooting and preventative maintenance tasks on all plumbing equipment.
· Oversees all regular testing and maintenance of all systems in the Capitol Complex/SPB facilities.
· Coordinates vendors and staff schedules for all plumbing related tasks, pms, and work orders.
· Reviews blueprints, building codes, or specifications to determine work details or procedures.
· Recommends and installs energy-efficient and water-conserving equipment and alternative water sources.
· Makes estimates related to time, materials, and labor costs for repair jobs or project plans.
· Inspects structures to assess material or equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, or to plan installation around obstructions.
· Inspects the work of others to ensure compliance with applicable codes or ordinances. Solders or brazes small pipes or special piping using specialized techniques, equipment, and materials. Conducts annual inspections and testing.
· Performs related work as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge of basic mathematics; building construction principles; utility systems including heating, air conditioning, electrical wiring and plumbing; and tools and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing.
· Skill in the use, maintenance and repair of tools and equipment used in plumbing; monitoring the status and progress of projects; coordinating labor, materials, and equipment; preparing and maintaining records, files, and reports; and maintaining a safe work environment.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications; to communicate effectively; and to serve as a lead worker providing direction to others.

Education and Experience Requirements:
· High school graduate or equivalent, supplemented by vocational training or special training in the plumbing trade.
· Ten (10) years’ experience in commercial, residential and industrial plumbing.
· Vocational or technical training in the plumbing trade may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Registration, Certification or Licensure:
· Must be licensed as a plumber by the State of Texas.
· Backflow certified preferred, able to be certified within one year of hire.
