Job Summary
The Director of Gardner Camp is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Camp to further the Camp's mission through the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs; to include the planning, organization, and execution of camp programs and activities. This role serves as the liaison between Gardner Camp, it's staff, benefactors, instructors, volunteers, and community. The Director of Gardner Camp will work closely with educational administrators and staff to develop programs that educate and inspire others, fostering personal growth and teamwork.
Duties
- Manages camp operations.
- Establishes a quality environment of hospitality and learning consistent with the Camp’s mission, vision, values and culture.
- Develops and oversees the delivery and evaluation of camp programs within the Camp’s primary target areas that meet the needs and interests of area youth; and ensures their delivery in a safe and quality manner.
- Recruits, trains, supervises, evaluates, and retains competent program staff, volunteers, guides, instructors and/or independent contractors.
- Establishes and maintains relationships, partnerships and sponsorships with various organizations and utilizes those relationships to strategically enhance the Camp’s programs and mission in coordination with other staff.
- Creates annual promotion/marketing plan, ensures it is carried out, and serves as spokesperson to the Camp’s constituents, media, and public.
- Manages the Foundation and it's activities.
- Works closely with the Director of Administration to ensure record keeping, office operations, policies and procedures are effective.
- Works closely with property management contractor(s) on all Camp related matters.
- Attends educational training events as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education Administration or a related field is preferred.
- Experience developing and administering youth programs is desirable.
- Strong public relations and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction
- Passion for educating youth and creating memorable experiences through camp activities.
