We’re seeking a Global Head of Direct Retail Channel Marketing to lead an emerging effort for State Street Global Advisors focused on driving growth with individual investors in multiple countries worldwide. This role requires deep, data-driven consumer-based marketing experience across multiple channels .
Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, the ideal candidate will be a visionary leader who is energized to develop multi-channel marketing campaigns for a relatively new marketing discipline. This leader will use data, analytics and digital marketing techniques to engage with individual investors and ultimately drive growth with this channel – primarily with our ETF products.
Key Responsibilities:
Retail Marketing Strategy: Develop the marketing strategy for the direct retail channel in alignment with business priorities and distribution strategy in multiple countries. The effort will start with a focus on the US, Japan and Germany.
Integrated Marketing Execution: Responsible for leading the execution of retail marketing campaigns across the entire marketing ecosystem including brand, content, social, paid media, etc. in collaboration with channel marketing colleagues around the world.
Marketing Budget: Manage a dedicated retail marketing budget aligned to specific business goals ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
Audience Segmentation: Accountable for clearly defining target audiences and developing and maintaining robust personas to inform marketing strategy, creative, content and tactics.
Measures of Success: Work with head of data and analytics to develop a robust set of KPIs and more effectively measure marketing ROI for the retail audience.
Partnerships: Cultivate existing and develop new partnerships across publishers, influencers, and platforms to foster growth in collaboration with local distribution teams.
Client Experience: Work across the marketing function to develop and improve retail client journeys and experiences across multiple platforms.
Creative: Partner closely with the head of brand & creative and head of client experience, to develop unique approaches to engaging direct retail investors via paid media, out-of-home, events, activations, etc.
Talent Management: Manage a growing team of five direct reports and drive coordination with the integrated global marketing team across a range of disciplines (content, social, design, etc.) to deliver on direct retail marketing goals.
Distribution: Collaborate with distribution leadership and retail focused distribution teams to build marketing campaigns that align to direct retail business priorities and goals in each region to drive growth in this channel.
These skills will help you succeed in this role
  • 20 or more years of relevant marketing communications experience: deep expertise and knowledge of consumer marketing
  • Financial services experience a plus, but not required
  • Talent Management – strong track record in recruiting, retaining and developing a high performing team across multiple geographies and disciplines.
  • Executive Presence - Prior experience and success interacting with and influencing executive level / C-Suite leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to develop digital-first, omni-channel marketing campaigns, including optimization and measurement
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective team player with ability to drive initiatives independently
  • Strong management skills are paramount to the success of this role
  • Proven ability to work across a matrixed organization
  • Data driven mindset ranging from understanding and identifying clients and prospects to measuring success of marketing initiatives
  • Ability to clearly define and improve client journeys across multiple digital touch points
Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably with a major in marketing or communications; master’s degree preferred
  • Understanding of digital and reporting platforms such as Salesforce, Adobe, Tableau and proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.

Salary Range:
$170,000 - $267,500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
