State Technical College of Missouri is accepting applications for full-time, 12-month annual contract, non- exempt, and benefit eligible shop assistant position for the Heavy Equipment Operations program. Required Qualifications: Required qualifications include a minimum of five years of experience in the heavy equipment operations industry; Prior hands-on experience operating or assisting with heavy equipment (e.g. backhoes, excavators, bulldozers, loaders); understanding of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems related to heavy equipment; ability to perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshoot common issues; ability to follow instructions, read technical manuals, and complete documentation as well as excellent communication, computer, and interpersonal skills. Up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include prior experience using diagnostic tools and interpreting equipment manuals or schematics; basic welding or fabrication skills; especially in a hands-on or vocational setting; as well as OSHA10/30 safety training certification. Valid Commercial Driver’s License or willingness to obtain one.
Job Responsibilities: This position would assist the Heavy Equipment Operations Technician and may include the following: servicing, maintaining, and repairing multiple makes and models of Heavy Equipment for the HEO program. Employ safety practices and protocols to ensure a safe learning environment, capability to handle the physical demands of lifting heavy objects, work in varying weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.
