What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Exercise Instructor for Fall 2025 position at State University of New York, Cortland?
/Duties
Candidate must be willing to teach 2-4 group exercise classes per week, including designing lesson plans, coaching/cueing and motivating participants. Must be willing to fill in as a sub for other instructors as needed and teach potential private classes to groups/clubs as they arise. Candidate must be physically fit and able to confidently lead classes and offer modifications for various fitness levels and abilities. The ability to motivate and encourage others essential. Candidate will be required to occasionally attend meetings/workshops which will take place in the evening and possibly on weekends.
Days/Hours Needed
30-60 minute classes, typically at noon or between 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday

Required Qualifications
- Must be a current SUNY Cortland student.
- Experience teaching and/or attending regular group exercise classes is required.
- Adult CPR/AED and First Aid Certification is required. However, candidates who do not hold current certification can still be hired, but must be willing to get certified shortly after hire by attending a class held by the Recreational Sports Department during their own time and free of charge.
Preferred Qualifications
Some type of training and/or certification is preferred.
Physical Demands
Ability to lead a class and teach/demonstrate a variety of exercises with proper form.
