What are the responsibilities and job description for the Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding) position at State University of New York, Cortland?
This position will support the clerical processing of undergraduate and graduate admissions applications, communicate with prospective students and families and provide support for on-campus recruitment programs. Hours for this position will be Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30.

Major Responsibilities
- Support the clerical processing of undergraduate and graduate admissions applications.
- Learn all of the sub-routines related to both first-year and transfer applications.
- Support all data-entry into the Student Information System (Banner), CRM (Slate) and ECM (OnBase).
- Perform clerical responsibilities utilizing various software programs including The Common Application, Slate, SUNY Campus Connect, Parchment, Scoir and others.
- Assist prospective students/families with scheduling visits utilizing Slate CRM.
- Assist with answering a high volume of phone calls per day, and manage and answer emails received in the admissions inbox.
- Correspond with prospective students and parents and assist with the preparation of mailed materials.
- Assist and support other areas in the Admissions Office when needed. Examples include assisting with bulk mailings, staffing the reception desk, downloading applications and other priority projects.

This position reports to the Associate Director of Admissions
Required Qualifications

To be appointed on a PERMANENT basis to this title, you must hold or have held the title of Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding) or be reachable on the full-time NYS Civil Service list and respond to canvass letter that will be emailed to people on the eligible list. You may also qualify if you are permanent in the following title: Office Assistant 1. You must also pass the Civil Service typing test, which can be administered in the Human Resources Office.
2. Non-Competitive Appointment Option:
To be appointed on a PERMANENT basis to this title, you must hold or have held the title of Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding) or be reachable on the full-time NYS Civil Service list and respond to canvass letter that will be emailed to people on the eligible list. You may also qualify if you are permanent in the following title: Office Assistant 1. You must also pass the Civil Service typing test, which can be administered in the Human Resources Office.
2. Non-Competitive Appointment Option:
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required, but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified
NON-COMPETITIVE QUALIFICATIONS-There is no minimum education or experience requirements for this title.
