What are the responsibilities and job description for the Site Protection Officer position at StateHouse Holdings Inc.?
SUMMARY:
The Site Protection Officer will be a visible and physical deterrent and provide for the general security (protection and safety) of the site’s population and property. Incumbent will serve as a liaison with law enforcement and emergency services so that prompt response and/or action is taken. Additionally, this role will include performing various tasks to ensure the site remains clean, safe, and well-stocked for day-to-day operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people into the property.
- Verify government-issued identification or other credentials prior to allowing access/entry to ensure only compliant individuals enter the premises.
- Periodically patrol the premises to identify any irregularities.
- Monitor CCTV surveillance equipment for potential threats and suspicious activity; watch for irregular or unusual conditions or interactions which may create security concerns or safety hazards.
- Identify, de-escalate and resolve security site issues in a professional and discreet manner.
- Assess threats and delivery route planning to have minimal disturbance to the operations.
- Prevent property and assets losses and damage by reporting irregularities and monitoring personnel and visitors; inform violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden items.
- Performs random searches to ensure that property removal of property is conducted per company protocols.
- Activates and/or first responder to alarms or emergency events; notifies the appropriate law enforcement or emergency department.
- Investigate and prepare detailed and accurate incident reports for upper management by recording observations, information, occurrences, interviewing witnesses.
- Performs various custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, throwing out trashes, cleaning bathrooms and washing/drying employee smock.
- Monitors, notifies and distributes incoming packages to appropriate departments in a timely manner.
- Executes Ad Hoc Projects as assigned by direct supervisor

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to detect any abnormalities from a distance.
- Ability to move (traverse) on uneven terrain.
- Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 lbs across various locations.
- Work is performed in greenhouse-warehouse cultivation and manufacturing facilities.
- May require working rotating shifts with varied hours/days, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of three years of prior experience working as a security officer, military police, law enforcement, or corrections officer. Knowledge of laws and regulations relating to detention, arrest, and restraints.
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Post-graduate of a Certified Public Safety Academy (military or civilian) in law enforcement or adult corrections or a POST Basic Certificate is desired.
- A current and valid Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) Security Officer License. Issued by the State of California is desired.
- Understanding of California Penal, Health and Safety, and Vehicle Codes.
- An individual who is bilingual in Spanish at a fluent level is highly desired.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OR REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Driver’s License and insurable.
- A current and valid Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) Security Officer License issued by the State of California is desired.
