What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spreader Forklift - Swing position at States Industries Llc?
Drive forklift and supply wood for up to 3 spreaders simultaneously. Fast paced environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Forklift certified with the ability to operate the forklift in tight quarters with heavy foot traffic
- Maintain forklift at all times and practices good housekeeping standards
- Work independently of others, stay focused to tasks and be self-motivated
- Adhere to all forklift safety rules
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize workflow
- Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to organize
- Maintain all Core boxes and through away carts.
- Maintain Whittier staging to States industries stacking policy.
- Communication to the Warehouse driver when batches are removed from the batching rack.
- Demonstrate good communication skills with other department and during the transitions between shifts.
- Supply all material to Spreaders Supply softwood centers and core to spreaders.
- Create continuous flow of materials to spreaders.
- Plan ahead and stage orders as needed.
- Calculate number of loads of paired and unpaired veneer for different orders.
- Support both teams in achieving the designated team goal of average routing hours with at most 3% fall down.
- Support the team in achieving all Safety, Production and Quality goals.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Use of personal protective equipment is required at all times. (Hearing protection and safety glasses)
- General mill environment, high noise, dust & traffic (pedestrian and forklift).
- Frequent getting on and off of forklift.
- Occasional contact with lubricants and propane.
- Maybe fast paced and stressful.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess an active States forklift certification card.
- Knowledge of softwood and hardwood veneer helpful.
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Prior forklift experience, with good forklift driving skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
- Must have good communication and listening skills
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to understanding and carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
- Ability to define problems and draw a valid conclusion enabling you to work towards and/or implement necessary functions of this job.
- Ability to prioritize work center tasks to ensure maximum productivity under competing priorities.
