Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Reports to: Manufacturing Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt

We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Windsor, CA. We are a highly skilled and dedicated team with a great benefits package and atmosphere. 

This position is responsible for the process design, operation, and implementation of new production lines. Play a key role in bringing quality, tooling and general support into all products being manufactured in the USA. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and/or optimize production processes, process parameters, and tooling for products in order to meet product performance and customer requirements.

·         Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.

·         Support manufacturing investigations and monitor process performance to meet quality, yield, capacity, and timelines.

  • Partner with engineering teams to evaluate various process technologies, equipment designs, and suppliers, and identify/select the best method for mass production.
  • Perform capability studies for current and new processes to prove a repeatable and reliable production process, and modify the process or tooling as needed.
  • Write the necessary documents to accompany production releases, such as Machine Specifications, Process Flows, PFMEA’s, and Control Plans.
  • Perform Gage R&R’s for current and new gages developed to prove a repeatable and reliable measurement process, and modify the gages as needed
  • Develop the tools and Inspection gages for various assembly processes.
  • Design and build automated and semi-automated assemblies and fixtures
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair operations for all manufacturing equipment.
  • Evaluate design/manufacturing alternatives for cost/performance/reliability optimizations.
  • Teach and disseminate product and production process knowledge to appropriate personnel.
  • Effectively communicate technical problems to suppliers or Engineering and work in a team to find and eliminate the root causes and improve designs.
  • Be actively involved in the implementation of quality programs.
  • Willing and able to work as a team member and make general decisions within authorized responsibilities for various projects with competing demands.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Able to lift up to 50 (fifty) pounds as part of a daily routine.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must:

·         Must be self-driven to find the correct and appropriate solutions.

·         Demonstrate strong analytical and technical skills required to understand best manufacturing practices and recommend proper improvement opportunities.

·         Basic electrical circuit knowledge.

·         Experience with bench top tool development including simple PLC building and programming with the mechanical designs.

·         Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems a plus.

·         Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint presentation & CAD software a plus.

·         Experience with CAM systems and simple set-ups on CNC mills and lathes a plus.

·         Ability to present technical data to all levels of the organization and produce results when facing deadlines or commitments is required.

·         Understanding and knowledge of scientific method and statistical problem solving techniques (SPC).

·         Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.

           

Education and/or Experience

·         Bachelors or Technical degree in one of the following Engineering disciplines: Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical.

·         3 yrs. experience in a Manufacturing or related field.
