Pretrial Officer
Blue Ridge Court Services, a public non-profit agency providing alternative sentencing options for the courts is seeking a pretrial officer. This position will focus on assisting with the completion of Public Safety Assessments and supervision of pretrial defendants referred from the magistrates and the courts of the Central Shenandoah Valley. This position is designed to identify, assess and supervise pretrial defendants with the goal of ensuring that they adhere to the conditions of release set by the local judiciary and appear at their scheduled court hearing.
Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work or criminal justice. Preference given to those applicants who have experience working in criminal justice and have a working knowledge of evidence-based practices in pretrial supervision. Strong computer skills as well as excellent written and verbal communications skills are required.
