What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Facilities Assistant position at Stay Heirloom?
The Facilities Assistant role is a hands-on, on-site role centered on the ongoing upkeep of the physical property. This role’s performance is measured using: guest review scores and visual inspections of the physical properties.
Essential Functions
- Landscaping and groundskeeping work, including, but not limited to: trash removal, power washing, leaf blowing, raking, pool skimming, weeding, etc.
- Assist with requests for information: On site measurements, obtaining specs for appliances/equipment, photos, etc.
- Meet third party repair & Maintenance vendors on site, as needed
- Waste management: moving overflow trash to consolidation dumpsters, keeping consolidation dumpster areas neat and clean.
- Transporting supplies from our Elmwood warehouse to properties, as needed and at guest request
- Changing batteries, filters
- Assist maintenance team with touch up painting, tightening furniture, unclogging toilets, managing wall scuffs,
- Complete time card and business expense report in accordance with company policy
- Assisting the Property Operations team with walkthroughs, special projects, and tasks, as assigned
The Facilities Assistant will be assigned to a group of properties in Heirloom’s New Orleans portfolio. These assigned properties are located throughout the Marigny/Bywater/Bayou St John neighborhoods. The properties are all within a segmented geographic area, within a 2-10 minute drive from one another, the Facilities Assistant must have access to a reliable personal vehicle to transport supplies (mileage reimbursement provided). From time-to-time, the Facilities Assistant should expect to provide coverage/support to other zones, depending on staffing levels and business needs. Please note that property assignments may be subject to change based on business needs. Any changes in the assigned area will be communicated to the Facilities Assistant beforehand.
Requirements
Requisites
- Experience with basic facilities maintenance tasks
- Valid driver’s license and upstanding driving record and access to reliable personal transportation
- Comfortable going up/down 10-12’ ladders
- Able to comfortably lift up to 50lbs without assistance
- Comfortable using mobile applications to track time and document work
- Results oriented
- Proactive approach to problem solving (critical thinker), resourceful
- Experience working with heated pools, a PLUS, but not required!
Schedule & Compensation
- This is a part time role, you should anticipate ~25 hours of work scheduled each week.
- This role is an on-site, in-person position, it does not offer hybrid or remote work opportunities at this time.
- Working hours can be scheduled during the following windows: ***Please note, the start and end times listed below are not the shift start and end times. The table below shows all of the times that the company needs dispatch coverage. The dispatcher will cover ~25 hours during these windows and will not be expected to cover all of the hours in these time windows.
Approximate day and hours:
Mondays and Tuesdays 10:00am to 6:00pm
Fridays and Saturdays 10:00am to 6:00pm
Compensation for this position is hourly and based on experience. This position is non-exempt, and overtime eligible.
Training
The first 90 days of the role will be an immersive training, mentorship, and onboarding experience.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 25 per week
