Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure compliance with medication schedules.
- Monitor patient health and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.
- Uphold resident rights and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support individuals with disabilities by providing tailored assistance based on their unique needs.
- Assist in hospice care when necessary, ensuring comfort and dignity for end-of-life patients.
- Collaborate with social workers and other healthcare providers to create comprehensive care plans.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients.
Skills
- Proficient in medication administration and understanding of relevant health care protocols.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and rights are respected.
- Experience or training in hospice care practices is highly valued.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities, demonstrating patience and empathy.
- Cooking skills to prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions or preferences.
- Strong patient monitoring skills to detect changes in health status promptly.
- Understanding of resident rights and commitment to advocating for client dignity.
- Background in social work or related fields is a plus but not required.
- Experience in home care or home health settings is beneficial.
Qualifications:
- Prior caregiver experience or in a similar role is required
- Must be dependable, caring, and compassionate
- Clear and effective communication skills
- High attention to detail and reliability
- CNA, CPR, and First Aid certifications are preferred (but not required)
- Ability to pass a background check
- Must have weekend availability
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required)
