Job Description

Position Summary

The Lead Server supervises and assists in the service of banquet functions. Serve guests in a friendly, professional manner according to hotel standards. This position reports to the Experience Manager.

Essential Job Functions / Key Job Responsibilities

• Oversee the set-up of functions including checking the physical layout of the room, providing the servers with the proper set-up information, and posting updated function sheets in the banquet kitchen.
• Conduct pre-service meetings with staff and delegate duties to banquet servers and bartenders during set-up and breakdown of events.
• Attend monthly department meetings and weekly banquet event order (BEO) meetings to review BEOs.
• Work closely with the Group Sales Team and Events Sales Manager to ensure successful execution of events.
• Oversee the service of the function to ensure the success of the function and staff adherence to all service rules.
• Meet individual group / event contacts and make him / herself accessible to the contact for any needs that may arise.
• Complete china, glass, and silver requisitions.
• Communicate / report to Food & Beverage leaders, Group & Events Team after each function regarding the flow of service, issues, glitches, etc.
• Oversee the breakdown of all events and ensure the proper removal and storage of hotel linen, props, and specialty china.
• Prepare and post daily assignments for servers including specific times for set-up completion and start of service for each event.
• Ensure the proper care, security, and maintenance of hotel equipment through proper supervision of service personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.
