JOB DESCRIPTION: Night Auditor
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for balancing the revenue and expense transactions, which occurred during the day. The Auditor provides services at the front desk professionally, efficiently, and courteously.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties:
- Acts as Night Manager On Duty during the graveyard shift.
- Balances, investigates, analyzes and corrects any out-of-balance accounts' involving all vouchers, credit cards, city ledger and cash accounts.
- Verifies all in-house and closed accounts for accuracy. Validates all rates and posts room and tax charges accurately.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adheres to guest room key control procedures.
- Adheres to hotel credit policies and procedures, including credit card authorization, direct bill accounts, check-cashing, cash-payment guests, telephone deposits, etc.
- Conducts all steps in the property management night audit system to close the current business day and open the new business day.
- Prepares daily operational reports as required.
- Completes necessary functions of call accounting system.
- Adheres to hotel mail, package and message handling procedures.
- Operates the hotel PBX according to procedures. Uses proper telephone etiquette when answering all telephones. Knowledgeable of voice mail system.
- Handles safe deposit boxes in accordance with hotel procedure.
- Processes guest payments and check-outs within hotel and company policies and procedures.
- Posts outlet charges promptly and accurately.
- Balances end-of-shift work and cash drawer.
- Follows all guidelines in regards to guest service

- Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.

- Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with guests and coworkers and including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Education and/or Experience:
A minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience with hotel computer systems and spreadsheet programs useful; prior hotel front desk experience helpful.
Language Skills:
Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be able to read and interpret simple and complex documents, reports, manuals and correspondence. Must be able to write simple and complex documents, reports, and correspondence. Must be able to speak effectively with clear speech to individuals and groups. Multilingual skills helpful but not required.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Computer Skills:
Has advanced basic computer job skills including logging on to systems, ability to communicate by email, ability to compose documents, enter database information, create presentations, download forms, and preserve/backup important data.
Reasoning Ability:
Must be able to apply common-sense logic and understanding to carry out instructions provided in written and/or-oral form. Must have the ability to solve problems involving several variables in given situations and interpret a variety of instructions provided in written and/or oral form. Must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, sound judgment and decision-making. Must be able to utilize mathematical skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Must be able to accurately perceive, comprehend and analyze situations, data, and incidents. Must be able to memorize instructions.
