Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer with a focus on avionics systems integration for flight vehicles. You will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and integration of avionics systems and PCBs that meet aerospace standards. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, flight software, mechanical engineering, and test teams, to ensure the seamless integration of hardware and firmware components.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, design, own, and integrate avionics systems for flight vehicles, including power distribution, communication, and control interfaces.
- Design and develop PCBs for avionics systems, working from component selection all the way to board bringup.
- Design and integrate power systems, including battery management, power distribution units (PDUs), and DC-DC converters for flight vehicles.
- Ensure designs meet electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements for flight-critical systems.
- Develop and execute test plans for avionics systems and PCBs, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, signal integrity analysis, and environmental stress testing.
- Collaborate with software and firmware engineers to integrate and test control systems, sensors, and communication protocols such as CAN, RS232, I2C, SPI, and Ethernet.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of experience in electrical engineering specializing in avionics systems, PCB design, and integration in aerospace or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, including experience with high-speed signal design and mixed-signal systems.
- Proficiency in PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, KiCAD, Eagle, or similar.
- Experience with hardware debugging tools: oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, etc.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, RS-485, UART, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet.
- Experience with power electronics (DC-DC converters, battery management systems).
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC design practices for avionics hardware.
- Strong understanding of thermal management and environmental qualification processes for electronics.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with aerospace-grade sensors (IMU, GPS, magnetometers, altimeters) and their integration.
- Knowledge of model-based design and tools like MATLAB/Simulink for system modeling and validation.
- Familiarity with flight control systems and autopilots.
- Experience with firmware development and embedded systems.
Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up and flight vehicle testing.
