OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks a technical program manager to lead its Systems Program Management Office (PMO) which establishes, manages, and optimizes the firm’s technical workloads and infrastructure with a strategic and collaborative approach. This dynamic position offers a broad view of our technology practices and the opportunity to build the PMO organization and drive the creation and adoption of exciting technical projects in a collaborative, engaging, and inclusive working environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
You’ll manage the PMO team, including overseeing the team’s professional development, mentorship, and training. You’ll also work directly as a Technical Program Manager, collaborating with experienced business and technology leaders inside and outside Systems to help create and implement the firm’s technology platforms, establish new program management processes, and advance large-scale technology projects. Projects may include a large-scale Linux migration from Red Hat to Ubuntu, or building out the firm’s cloud strategy.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
• Candidates should have 10 to 15 years of experience in a role involving technical program management for technology infrastructure, along with 3 years of management experience.
• A degree in computer science or a related technical discipline is preferred but not required, as is familiarity with Linux operating systems and distributed systems.
• Exposure to high-performance computing environments and data centers, experience with command-line interfaces and coding, and knowledge of GPUs and multi-node architecture requirements are also beneficial.
• An excellent collaborator who can effectively work with various stakeholders and navigate large open-ended projects will thrive in this role.
• We seek individuals who are comfortable discussing technical concepts with developers, take initiative, have a passion for improving user experience, and demonstrate an interest in workflow optimization.
The expected annual base salary for this position is $275,000 to $325,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
