Position Summary:
The EH&S Manager plays a key and crucial role in ensuring the management of safety operations, leading teams to foster a culture of safety, conducting regular audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, oversees all aspects of the safety and environmental programs, provide training, leads and performs risk assessments, implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, and responds to incidents. This position is further responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing policies that promote a safe and compliant workplace while focusing on risk management and regulatory compliance and contributing to achieving business goals and enhancing daily operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations through form review and submittal, permit renewal, and audit participation, including but not limited to DOT, EPA, DEA, FAA, OSHA, Customer, Fire Department audits.
- Leads monthly Safety Committee meetings, followed by facility inspection with Safety Committee members. Inspection findings are communicated to facility management and corrective actions implemented.
- Conduct new hire safety orientation which includes site specific information and facility walk-through.
- Maintains OSHA/FAA driven compliance programs including but not limited to: General Safety Orientations, Machine Safeguarding, Lockout/Tagout, Hearing Conservation, Manual Material Handling/Ergonomics, Forklift, Overhead Crane and Aerial Lift Safety, Hazard Communication/GHS.
- Maintain OSHA Logs such as Form 300, 301, and the Annual Summary 300A.
- Provides all EH&S reporting requirements internally and with all regulatory agencies.
- Identifies gaps in the existing health, safety and environment systems, and updates or develops programs to ensure compliance with current regulations and eliminate gaps, reviews and updates SOPs
- Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipment.
- Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, warehouse and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance
- Investigate industrial accidents near-miss incidents and occupational injuries to determine causes install preventive measures and manage return-to-work activities
- Increases and encourages safety awareness among all employees. Facilitates development of programs that empower employee participation in all areas.
- Order and maintain facility safety inventory including supplies and equipment
- Work with insurance carrier claim, fire protection and safety consultants on activities and service plans geared at insurance cost containment and risk reduction.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of progressive field safety experience
- Safety/Fire/Risk Management designations such as ASP, CSP, CFPS, OHST, ARM
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication (in front of audience as needed)
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining priorities and meeting deadlines as set by management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety and Health or related field preferred
- 2-3 years of management experience
- Safety/Fire/Risk Management designations such as ASP, CSP, CFPS, OHST, ARM
- Advanced knowledge of applicable regulations (i.e. OSHA, CAL-OSHA)
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
Travel: Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
Language: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
