STEAM Academy is seeking a highly motivated and coachable STEAM Inspector to join our sales team. This position requires traveling to 20-30 schools weekly, engaging with school staff (primarily principals), and scheduling appointments for our Sales Development Representative (SDR). The STEAM Inspector will work as a vital part of our field sales team, serving as the first point of contact for school administrators and working to generate leads for our SDR team. Key Responsibilities:
- School Visits & Engagement:
- Travel to 20-30 schools weekly to introduce STEAM Academy’s after-school robotics programs to principals, assistant principals, and other key decision-makers.
- Engage with school administrators in person to schedule appointments for the Sales Development Representative (SDR) to present our programs in more detail.
- Develop strong rapport with school staff to position STEAM Academy as a valuable resource for enhancing student education in our afters school robotics program at Steam Academy.
- Lead Generation:
- Focus on creating high-quality leads by ensuring you connect with the right people at each school, particularly decision-makers like principals.
- Book appointments and set meetings for the SDR team, ensuring the transition from field sales to SDR sales is smooth and efficient.
- Qualify schools to assess their interest in the STEAM Academy program, gathering relevant information for the SDR team.
- Sales Mindset & Goal Achievement:
- Maintain a field sales mindset, constantly focused on hitting weekly appointment-setting targets and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Be persistent and proactive in following up with schools to secure meetings, even if initial attempts are unsuccessful.
- Represent STEAM Academy with professionalism and enthusiasm, ensuring that every interaction contributes to the overall growth of the program.
- Collaboration with SDR Team:
- Work closely with the SDR team to ensure a seamless handoff of scheduled appointments.
- Share insights from your interactions with school staff to help tailor follow-up presentations and communications from the SDR.
- Reporting and Tracking:
- Use CRM tools or other tracking systems to log school visits, appointments, and outcomes.
- Provide weekly reports on progress, appointments set, and any other relevant data to your manager.
- Constant Learning & Development:
- Stay up-to-date with the STEAM Academy’s programs, sales strategies, and best practices to continually improve your sales performance.
- Be open to coaching and feedback to help hone your sales skills and maximize your impact.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Sales Experience: Prior sales experience, especially in a field sales environment, is highly preferred. A background in educational sales, marketing, or community outreach is a plus.
- Self-Motivated & Coachable: Must be driven, with the ability to work independently, set goals, and stay focused on results. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn and open to feedback.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills to confidently engage with school administrators and effectively convey the benefits of STEAM Academy’s programs.
- Field Sales Mindset: Must have a proactive, results-driven attitude, with a focus on achieving sales goals and setting appointments.
- Car & Travel: Must have a reliable car and be comfortable with extensive travel within the local area (20-30 schools per week).
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple visits, track appointments, and meet targets in a fast-paced environment.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using mobile devices and CRM tools for scheduling and tracking visits.
- Positive Attitude: A solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to overcome objections and remain optimistic during challenges.
- Availability: Ability to start as soon as possible (ideally next week).
