With little or no supervision perform work that may be of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of vehicles (gas and / or diesel) and equipment. Strong knowledge and ability in metal fabrication.
Essential Job Functions :
Must work safely

Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits
Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers
Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding
Assemble metal structures
Operate grinding equipment
Operate welding equipment
Prepare vehicles for proper operation (both gas and diesel vehicles)
Perform inspections and preventative maintenance (both gas and diesel vehicles)
Performance testing & replacing or repairing defective vehicle components
Diagnose, rebuild, and repair vehicles (gas / diesel) equipment
When required, prepares and maintains records and reports
Ensure vehicles are safe and comply with the legal requirements
Verify that work meets or exceeds company quality standards
Expected to follow company policies as outlined in the company’s Employee Handbook
Maintain an acceptable attendance record, including reporting to work on time
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Experience Required :
Considerable knowledge :
Of the methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
Diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs
Concepts involved in internal combustion engines, electrical, electronic and hydraulic systems
Handling tools and equipment, implementing safety practices when repairing and maintaining fleet of vehicles
Repair and maintain gas and / or diesel vehicles including components such as brakes, pumps, hydraulic system differentials and transmissions.
Thorough knowledge of local, state and federal regulations relating to proper certification and operation of vehicles.
May be required to operate wrecker / towing equipment on public roads and be appropriately licensed
May be required to possess Commercial Driver’s License (Class A CDL)
Must possess tools to be able to perform the essentials functions
Must meet company quality standards for all work performed
Must be able to pass drug screen
Must be insurable under the company’s vehicle insurance policy.
Working knowledge of :
Mechanical design and fabrication
Electrical systems, including computerized induction / ignition systems
Skills Required :
Use of power and hand tools
Use of diagnostic equipment
Acetylene and electric arc welding
Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes
Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 75 pounds
Work extended hours out of doors in a variety of weather conditions
Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports
Problem solving
Provide quality customer service at all times; responding to customer’s needs
Exhibit sound and accurate judgment to support and explain reasoning for decisions; include appropriate people in decision making process
Use of time efficiently and productively
Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in keeping with company quality standards
