Key Responsibilities
- Cost Estimation: Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial concrete projects by analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documentation.
- Takeoff Preparation: Conduct quantity take-offs, gathering measurements and quantities from construction plans to determine the material and labor requirements for estimating purposes.
- Data Collection: Gather and organize cost data, including material prices and labor rates, to ensure the accuracy of estimates.
- Price Acquisition: Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring competitive and accurate bids based on current market rates.
- New Job Setup: Build new jobs in Procore, ensuring all necessary documentation and estimates are accurately entered into the system.
- Quantity Analysis: Analyze quantities and details from project specifications to ensure comprehensive understanding and accurate pricing.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior estimators and other team members to support the bid preparation process and enhance overall team efficiency.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, takeoffs, and relevant correspondence to ensure effective project tracking and communication.
- Market Research: Stay informed about market trends, material costs, and industry standards to provide valuable insights for the estimating process.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to a culture of innovation by identifying opportunities for process improvement within the estimating function.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience in the field.
- Some experience in construction estimating or a related area preferred, but entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of construction methods and materials, especially in concrete work.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in estimates.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and familiarity with estimating software is a plus.
