Non-Ferrous Technician
As a Non-Ferrous Technician at Steed Metals, you will be responsible for the processing, sorting, and preparation of non-ferrous metals for recycling. Your role is critical in ensuring quality control and efficiency within our recycling operations, contributing to our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Key Responsibilities
- Material Processing: Sort and process non-ferrous metals, such as aluminum, copper, brass, and lead, ensuring accurate classification and preparation for recycling.
- Quality Control: Conduct inspections to ensure non-ferrous materials meet the company’s quality standards and specifications prior to processing and shipment.
- Equipment Operation: Operate various machinery and equipment used in the processing of non-ferrous metals, including balers, shears,forklifts and conveyors.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety policies and procedures to promote a safe working environment, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of materials processed, including quantities and types of metals sorted, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to achieve production goals and improve operational efficiencies.
- Continuous Improvement: Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of recycling operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in recycling, scrap metal processing, or a similar industrial environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of non-ferrous metals and their properties.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
- Good attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
