Responsibilities
- Design Steel Decking according to Steel Deck Institute standards
- Review and develop engineering tools specific to steel deck
- Roof/floor designs for projects including Retail Buildings, Schools, Warehouses, etc.
- Provide engineering direction to detailing, design, sales and production departments
- Interpret contract documents and communicate with Architects/Engineers of Record/Fabricators on product design requirements
- Design Joists, Joist Girders per Steel Joist Institute standards
- Become conversant in AISC, AISI, SJI, and SDI codes and specs
Qualifications
Required:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent for Civil P.E. qualification
- Minimum Civil E.I.T. certification with desire to become Civil P.E.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
- Prior steel deck industry or structural steel design experience
- Prior steel joist industry experience
- Civil P.E. certification
