Process metallurgical support for rolling mill and supervision of shift personnel
Responsibilities
- Technical supervision with all of operations as it relates to product quality and process performance
- Interface with other departments for managing product quality
- Execute all trials in collaboration with other Metallurgists, Engineers and Supervisors
- Maintain all quality systems (BSS, QCBD, CAR, MOC)
- Continuous process monitoring, analysis, and improvement
- Assisting Supervisors in reviewing and approving raw materials and suppliers
Qualifications
Required
- B.S. degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years of experience in steel production and/or applications
- Safety focus
- Proven leadership, verbal & written communications, and presentation skills
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated, positive outlook, team player
- Strong orientation for continuous improvement and innovation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred
- Work experience in Melt Shops, specifically with arc furnaces
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety procedures
- Experience operating an arc furnace
- Experience using an oxygen lance, cutting torch, welder, and other hand tools
- Experience working swing or rotating shift
