The Product Metallurgist is responsible for a wide variety of activities and procedures throughout our production process. This position is part of a team tasked with the goal of maximizing safety, quality, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support on product and processes for the operators
- Provide technical support including product and operations information for SDI sales and SDI customers
- Approve orders
- Maintain order validation and premet review program parameters
- Set internal/external quality standards
- Make final disposition on nonconforming material
- Review galvanizing claims
- Develop corrective and preventive actions
- Provide continuous product and process improvement
- Coordinate ISO activities
Qualifications
- B.S. degree or equivalent in metallurgy, material science, or a related engineering field
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Travel requirements – some travel is necessary to visit customers, attend conferences, attend meetings at other SDI locations etc…
