We are seeking a Senior Payroll Coordinator to join our Human Resources Department at the Corporate Office. This role is responsible for supporting the administration of payroll processes and performing advanced payroll functions. The successful candidate will work closely with divisional payroll benefit specialists to address technical questions, troubleshoot payroll software issues, and ensure payroll accuracy and compliance. This position reports to the Manager of Payroll.
Responsibilities
- Review multi-state payrolls;
- Process monthly corporate payrolls;
- Act as liaison with the divisional payroll specialists to respond to technical questions as well as troubleshoot payroll processing issues;
- Present monthly payroll trainings;
- Process all companywide transfers within the payroll system;
- Assist with overseeing the Work Force Management Dimensions platform for electronic timekeeping;
- Process off-cycle payroll adjustments;
- Maintain confidentiality of employee information;
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Accounting, a related field or equivalent technical training;
- CPP designation;
- Minimum of 5 years' payroll processing experience of multi-state payroll;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access;
- Comfortable consolidating multiple sets of data;
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, auditing concepts and controls and payroll taxes;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to use sound judgment and initiative;
- Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision and multi-task;
- Experience working with UKG and/or Dimensions systems a plus;
- Experience using vendor administrative software, including data entry and reporting, preferred;
- May not be related to another employee of Steel Dynamics, Inc. or any of its subsidiaries. The definition of relative in this requirement is “any person who is related by blood or marriage, or whose relationship with the employee is similar to that of persons who are related by blood or marriage”.
