We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Engineering Clerk to support our engineering and fabrication teams in the production of structural steel joists and trusses. This role is essential in maintaining accurate documentation, coordinating between departments, and ensuring timely distribution of drawings, materials lists, and technical data.
Responsibilities
· Maintain and organize engineering drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication documents.
· Track and distribute updated drawings and revisions to internal teams (detailing, shop, QC).
· Archive approved submittals, stamped drawings, and project records.
· Coordinate information flow between detailing, engineering, purchasing, and production.
· Track delivery dates and project milestones; notify teams of upcoming deadlines or changes.
· Input Bills of Materials (BOMs) into job tracking and scheduling systems accurately.
· Maintain logs of revision and error tracking.
· Generate material labels and tags for fabricated components.
· Communicate with project managers, vendors, and fabrication teams to resolve issues.
· Follow up on RFIs, drawing approvals, and material orders.
· Help coordinate inspections and deliveries with internal and external stakeholders.
· Prepare RFIs, transmittals, and submittal packages.
· File delivery tickets, POs, and packing slips.
· Updating multiple Spreadsheets
· Maintain an intimate knowledge of the status of all projects in the schedule
· Timesheet Review
Qualifications
Required
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
· Strong attention to detail, problem solving, organizational, time management and communication skills are a must due to daily interactions with management and engineering personnel.
· Ability to multitask accurately and efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
· Must be self-motivated under minimum supervision, willing to accept responsibility, and follow through.
· Team player with the ability and willingness to learn.
· Extremely responsible and punctual with deadlines.
· Willing to work overtime.
Preferred
· 1–3 years of experience in an engineering, construction, or fabrication environment.
· Familiarity with structural steel or joist/truss fabrication is a plus.
· Knowledgeable in interpreting structural drawings and contract documents
