Steel Manufacturing & Warehouse Company is an ISO 9001:2015 certified company and is one of the oldest carbon steel service centers in the Midwest. Established in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1921, Steel Manufacturing and Warehouse has evolved into one of the Midwest’s premier carbon flat rolled and plate centers.
We are looking for a Laser Operator who will work with our team. The Laser Operator will ensure that product processed on Laser Machine has been performed in a safe, efficient and quality manner. This role is located at our Kansas City, KS facility.
Hours of work:
1st shift - 5:30am - 2:00pm, Monday - Friday
2nd shift - 1:30pm - 10:00pm, Monday - Friday
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up, adjust and operate a variety of machines to perform diversified operations on varying material. Usually close tolerance work requiring a high degree of skill.
- Select speeds and feeds, determine operational sequences and tooling arrangements
- Diagnose and rectify tooling problems and machine malfunctions
- Set up machines for operation by others
- Prepares orders by processing requests and work orders; pulling materials; packaging and staging orders for delivery
- Maintains quality service by following organization standards
- Completes work orders by entering required information
- A Team Player
- Complies with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Ensure a safe, clean work environment
- Train operator trainees
- Other duties as may be assigned

- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Language Skills (To be determined during Interview process)
- Mathematical Skills (High School Equivalent)
- Basic computer knowledge
- Use a variety of precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers
- Knowledge of industrial power equipment and forklift operations
- Subject to Drug Screening and Background Checks
