Position Overview

Programs and operates a Coordinate Measuring Machine to measure mechanical dimensions and parameters on a variety of machined components and assemblies. Involves working with complex parts with close tolerances requiring attention to detail, a basic knowledge of machining techniques and familiarity with other inspection techniques.

Essential Job Functions

• Operate Hexagon CMM for A&D parts with complex geometries and tight tolerances.
• Program in PC-DMIS.
• Demonstrated ability to read and follow prints, work instructions and other manufacturing documentation.
• Thorough understanding of GD&T, including definition and application of features such as concentricity, true position, parallel, and cylindricity, in order to develop and maintain CMM programs for inspection of parts.
• Working knowledge of geometry and trigonometry as it applies to creating measurement programs.
• Ability to coordinate and prioritize between inspections required from the CNC department, assembly departments, Tool Room, NPD and Receiving Inspection with little supervision.
• Possess excellent interpersonal communication skill ability.
• Proven/demonstrated ability to work with others
• Willingness to work overtime as necessary to support the CNC Dept and special projects as required.
  
  

Requirements

Candidate Requirements & Preferred Experience

• High School degree, Prior CMM experience, CMM training, CNC milling experience with CMM and romer arm inspections, or one to two years of equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with computer aided programming and operation of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM – non-manual).
• Knowledge and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
• Experience working in a Metrology & CMM environment.
• Experience with PC-DMIS programming software preferred.
• Self-accountability, acting with urgency and resilience to deliver on commitments, attention to detail, problem-solving and customer service orientation
• Collaborate with Quality team, Engineering staff, and Production employees
• Share knowledge and ideas with a real drive to get things done faster, honesty, and high level of integrity.
• High level of ambition and positive attitude about long term prospects for successfully addressing new and demanding challenges.
• Ability to bring assignments to a successful completion.
