THE ROLE

Under the general supervision, the concession cook is responsible for preparing food and assisting in the preparation of items during the event. The cook should understand the proper cooking and holding procedures to not sacrifice quality or freshness of product.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook food items, such as hot dogs, burgers, fries, and other concession-style snacks, according to set recipes or guidelines.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cooking area, including countertops, grills, fryers, and food prep stations.

Ensure food is cooked to proper temperature and served in a timely manner to customers.

Monitor food stock levels and assist with inventory management to ensure sufficient supplies are available during service.

Follow food safety protocols, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation of food and equipment.

Operate kitchen equipment, such as grills, slicers, fryers, ovens, and microwaves, ensuring they are used safely and efficiently.

Provide excellent customer service, addressing questions or concerns with a friendly and positive attitude.

Assist with setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after shifts.

Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 35-40 pounds. Specific vision abilities require by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Previous experience in cooking is preferred.

Operation of standard kitchen utensils and equipment in the concession stands in a prompt and efficient manner

Understand and follow guidelines set by PSC and the Health Department by maintaining a clean and sanitary work area

Take pride as a cook, resolve issues and assist co-workers as needed

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to operate industrial kitchen equipment

Able to encounter challenges with a solution mindset and remain optimistic despite setbacks with program.

Has flexibility and adaptability in work style and in work environments.

Can manage a dynamic "work" schedule with other jobs, personal responsibilities, school, etc.

Able to meet deadlines and complete tasks / projects on-time.

Ability to work with the appropriate sense of urgency and have a drive for results.

Highly self-motivated, persistent, dependable and independent.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.

Flexible work hours to include day, evening, weekend and holiday hour
