We are looking to fill an immediate opening for a dynamic and results-oriented General Manager to lead our team at our Ashland service center location. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the steel industry, proven leadership skills, and a relentless focus on safety, culture, and quality. The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of branch operations, including sales, production, inventory management, logistics, and customer service. Responsibilities include continuous improvement to safety and quality culture, managing daily operations, managing and supporting employees, overseeing customer service, generating additional sales, and managing the budget.

What are your responsibilities?
- Strategic Leadership:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve branch objectives and contribute to overall company growth.
- Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Operational Management:
- Oversee all branch operations, including steel processing, warehousing, and distribution.
- Ensure efficient inventory management and optimize production schedules to meet customer demands.
- Implement and maintain safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Manage and optimize logistics and transportation operations.
- Sales and Customer Relations:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and suppliers.
- Lead sales efforts and drive revenue growth through effective sales strategies.
- Ensure exceptional customer service and resolve customer issues promptly.
- Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the branch budget, ensuring cost control and profitability.
- Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports to senior management.
- Analyze financial data to identify areas for improvement.
- Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and motivate a high-performing team.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
What qualifications should you have?
- Strong background in safety culture
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field
- Significant experience in the steel processing and distribution industry
- Proven track record of successful leadership and management
- Strong understanding of steel products, processing, and distribution
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in inventory management and customer relationship management software
- Confidence with typical office equipment and computer skills - especially Microsoft products such as Outlook, Excel, Word, CRM, PowerPoint, video conferencing
- Time management skills - scheduling, employee support, customer support, job tracking, billing, staff communications, emails, phone calls, etc.
- Valid driver's license
