Position Overview
We are searching for a motivated purchasing specialist to manage our daily procurement needs. This person will be responsible for sourcing new suppliers and ensuring that all materials meet the required specifications while obtaining the best pricing. Negotiating terms, regularly evaluating supplier performance, and ensuring timely delivery of materials is crucial.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and review purchase requests from the plant manager. Place orders with approved suppliers in a timely and accurate manner
- Monitor and track the status of all orders. Update the plant manager regularly on the status of orders and any potential delays or issues
- Maintain clear and effective communication with suppliers and the finance manager to ensure all parties are informed of any changes or issues with orders
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and cost effective procurement of materials
- Monitor and control costs by negotiating with suppliers and seeking out the most cost effective purchasing options
- Address and resolve any discrepancies or issues with orders, including delays, cancellations, and quality concerns promptly
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all purchase orders, including order details, supplier information, and delivery status
- Assist with inventory management tasks as needed, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained to meet operational requirements
- Prepare proposals, request quotes, and negotiate purchasing terms and conditions with internal team and external suppliers
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant regulations and standards
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field preferred
- Experience: Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within a manufacturing or operations environment is preferred
- Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in order processing and record keeping
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Quickbooks, Google Docs, and Sheets
- Attributes: Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Problem-solving skills and ability to address issues proactively
- Strong negotiating skills and ability to build positive relationships with suppliers
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
