Summary
Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Material Handling Technician is responsible for operating a forklift and loading, unloading and moving materials around the plant or warehouse to a designated area, following the production/shipping schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Moves parts or material from one destination to another within the shop floor or warehouse.
- Stages materials ready for shipping
- Loads parts or materials onto trucks for shipping, or into shelves/racks for temporary storage
- Unloads raw material or finished parts from trucks or shelves, and moves them to the assigned space
- Operates a multi-directional forklift or similar equipment
- Operates overhead crane
- Works closely with team members and communicates in an efficient way
- Complies with safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE at all times
- Checks work area for hazards
- Leaves work area in a clean/safe state when shift is complete
Qualifications: Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience working in a manufacturing/warehouse environment preferred
- Forklift certification required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
