POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance “B" employee plays an active role in supporting the maintenance department's daily operations. The Maintenance “B” position is tasked with performing general building, ground maintenance, and basic preventative maintenance. This involves performing light non-critical welding and torch cutting, as well as carrying out basic equipment repair including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic. The Maintenance “B” position may also assist Maintenance “A”.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems and machinery, including inspections, repairs, and replacements.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, using various tools and techniques.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies while performing maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with other team members to address and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory.
- Install, modify, and upgrade electrical systems and components as needed.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and perform necessary repairs.
- Assist in the planning and execution of preventive maintenance schedules.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
High school education or GED required. Team member must have the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. Must be able to also meet the physical requirements of the job including the ability to lift 50 pounds and work on your feet on a concrete floor for the entire shift. Team member must also be able to effectively communicate with others and work well in a team environment.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees are predominantly engaged in standing, walking, or climbing activities, accounting for 99% of their time, with sitting comprising only 1%. They may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. and are capable of ascending to heights of up to 45 feet to perform tasks. They must effectively comprehend written instructions and procedures, as well as produce legibly written documentation. A foundational grasp of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is also essential.
EQUIPMENT, AIDS, TOOLS:
Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. The individual is required to supply their own hand tools and possess a valid driver’s license. They should also be eligible for obtaining a hi-lo license and have proficiency in operating a snow blower or a shovel for snow clearance purposes.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The primary work environment is within a steel manufacturing facility, which may include:
Exposure to moving machinery, heavy equipment, and sharp objects.
Work areas may be subject to fluctuating seasonal temperatures, including hot and cold conditions. Loud noise from machinery and equipment operations. The presence of dust, debris, and airborne particles typical of an industrial setting. Adherence to strict safety protocols to mitigate risks associated with the manufacturing process. Potential hazards include strains, cuts, and crush injuries.
