SWX Construction, a division of Steelworx Industrial Group, is expanding our CSA Team. We are committed to combining seasoned leadership with industry-leading equipment to offer full CSA services for industrial and commercial clients. Our expertise includes concrete, insulated metal panels, structural steel, drains, doors, infrastructure, heavy site work, underground utilities and more.

Job Summary:

SWX Construction is seeking an experienced Pipelayer to join our Underground Utilities crew. This role requires hands-on experience with laying and aligning pipe systems for storm drains, sanitary sewers, and water mains. The ideal candidate is precise, safety-conscious, and thrives in a physically demanding, team-oriented environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Install underground utilities such as water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems.
• Align and position pipe to required grade and specifications using laser or transit levels.
• Cut and bevel pipe using pipe cutters, saws, and torches.
• Connect pipe using glue, gaskets, clamps, or other sealing methods.
• Lay out pipe routes and follow trench lines precisely.
• Assist with trenching, shoring, grading, and backfilling operations.
• Operate or assist with heavy machinery such as excavators and compactors as needed.
• Inspect installed pipes for obstructions or leaks, and make necessary repairs or adjustments.
• Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and utility maps.
• Maintain safe working conditions and comply with all safety procedures and standards.

Education & Skill Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• .
• Ability to use levels, lasers, and hand tools with precision.
• Familiarity with safety protocols around trenching, confined spaces, and pipe installation.
• Basic knowledge of soil types and proper backfilling techniques.
• CDL or ability to obtain is a plus.

Physical Demands:

• Climb and maintain balance.
• Fully utilize hands and arms; stand, kneel, bend, crawl, or crouch for extended periods.

• Ability to sit, stand, or walk continuously.
• Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work in hot or cold conditions, outdoors, and at high elevations.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
• Ability to pass a drug test.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
