Position: Mechanical Engineer
Job Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Location: VA Eastern Kansas Health Care
SteerBridge Strategies is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to provide Construction Management Services supporting infrastructure upgrades at the Eastern Kansas Health Care Affairs Medical Center (VAMC).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Must be eligible to pass a federal background check and complete the necessary steps to obtain a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) badge.
Must provide at least three (3) examples of projects demonstrating similar scale, complexity, and responsibilities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Licensed Mechanical Engineer.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in both design and construction.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to construction projects.
Expertise in construction contract documents, including technical specifications and drawings.
Comprehensive knowledge of engineering services, building codes, budgeting, and scheduling.
Ability to supervise and manage personnel with diverse skill sets.
Proactive approach in identifying and mitigating project risks, assisting in risk management planning.
Skilled in reviewing, preparing, and providing recommendations on scope of work documents, submittals, and project changes.
Capable of evaluating the value and quality of work in place to ensure compliance with project requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct engineering analysis, development, and design for new projects and facility improvements.
Provide technical oversight for all engineering disciplines related to project work.
Lead design project teams, which may include architects, engineers, and technicians.
Perform site surveys and collaborate with medical center personnel to define project scope and impact.
Assess and manage project risks to ensure minimal disruption to patient care.
Ensure compliance with healthcare facility standards while maintaining project efficiency and effectiveness.
