About Us: We are a community-focused establishment in downtown Sheboygan dedicated to providing health-enhancing foods and supporting local producers. Our market features an in-house butcher shop, bakery, coffee roaster, deli, and coffee/wine kiosk offering local organic produce, pasture-raised meats, house-made deli salads, soups, baked pastas, sandwiches, wine, and spirits.

Position Overview: We seek an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to quality, sustainability, and community engagement aligning with our mission to support local farmers and provide exceptional food experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Development: Design seasonal menus showcasing local, organic, and sustainably sourced ingredients reflecting our commitment to quality and community.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee daily kitchen operations ensuring efficiency, cleanliness, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage kitchen staff fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment.
  • Inventory Control: Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain relationships with local suppliers to ensure the availability of fresh, high-quality ingredients.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standards maintaining consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Event Collaboration: Work with our events team to develop and execute menus for special events and community classes.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a similar setting is preferred.
  • Exceptional culinary skills with a passion for local and sustainable ingredients are essential.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities are required.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills are necessary.
  • A knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations is mandatory.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail is crucial.
  • A culinary degree or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
