Base Salary Range: $60,678 - $114,367*
Professional Learning Stipend: $6,660- $12,552*
Do you love getting students curious about the world around them? Pioneer Middle School is looking for a passionate and collaborative science educator to join our experienced and supportive team. We value curiosity, hands-on learning, and creating a classroom where students feel safe asking questions and exploring big ideas. As a middle school science teacher, you’ll guide students through engaging lessons that help them think like scientists—observing, experimenting, analyzing, and making sense of how things work. You’ll also be part of a positive school culture where teachers support each other, share ideas, and enjoy the work we do—together.
Our district is located a 20 minute drive south of Tacoma, and serves just over 3,000 students across six schools, including a remote PreK-3 elementary school on Anderson Island and five mainland schools:
- Cherrydale Primary School (PreK-3)
- Chloe Clark Elementary (PreK-3)
- Saltar’s Point Elementary (Grades 4-5)
- Pioneer Middle School (Grades 6-8)
- Steilacoom High School (Grades 9-12)

Minimum Qualifications and Skills
- Successful experience or demonstrated commitment toward working with culturally and racially diverse students, families and communities.
- Successful completion of a teacher certification program at an accredited college or university, and valid Washington state certification and endorsement(s) in Science
- Demonstrated content knowledge or experience teaching Science.
- Knowledge of strength-focused instructional strategies for students that promotes autonomy, cooperation and student voice.
- Experience or skill in creating a caring classroom environment that is orderly, purposeful and facilitates student learning.
- Experience or skill in planning, preparing and delivering differentiated instruction that facilitates active learning.
- Experience or knowledge of integrating restorative practices and skills in the classroom.
- Demonstrated skill or experience supporting and contributing to the success of students with disabilities.
- Understanding of how injustice or racial inequity may impact students and families experience with school.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
- Strong relationship building, networking skills to connect with community businesses and resources.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, work effectively under pressure, and remain flexible.
- Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $67,339.00 - $126,919.00 per year
