Description
I. OBJECTIVE / GENERAL DESCRIPTION
To make assigned calls and maintain a positive relationship with assigned area accounts and secure the maximum in sales volume and product distribution by selling the Company’s products and point of sale.
II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Achieve programmed volume quotas by brand.
- Plan regularly scheduled sales calls on assigned On and Off-Premise accounts to ensure:
- Customer satisfaction.
- Proper shelf/cooler placement for products.
- Adequate and accurate inventory levels.
- Proper rotation on shelf in back room.
- Proper pricing.
- Appropriate placement and adequate quantity of point-of-sale material.
- Product breakage return.
- New package and brand authorizations.
- Salesman to maintain a 5% or less load return.
- Accomplish timely and productive execution of sales plans and promotions at retail by securing trade support via product displays, price promotions, special events, on-premise promotions and point of sale materials.
- Call on and solicit new accounts within assigned area.
- Develop thorough knowledge of, and comply with, Federal and State regulations concerning the sale and promotion of alcoholic beverages.
- Maintain and/or develop sound customer relations and goodwill with all accounts:
- Ensure proper and prompt handling of all customer problems/complaints.
- Ensure only fresh beer is in accounts.
- Firmly and diplomatically protect the company’s interest in all credit and/or collection problems.
- Attend special events (4 per year).
- Call on all daily accounts on assigned day.
- Deliver beer on an as needed basis.
- Explain new sales programs and prices.
- Secure and relay to management complete information on competitive activities.
- Properly transmit sales orders according to procedure, check edits on a daily basis and communicate any discrepancies to distribution.
- Company Vehicle properly stocked with signage, POS and Repack.
- Prepare written reports on a timely basis including:
- Daily Sales Orders
- Daily Activity Reports
- Daily P.O.S. and Display Booking Slips
- Daily Breakage Slips
- Monthly Program Tracking Sheets
- Occasional Chain Activity Reports
- Occasional Driver Complaint Reports
- Draft Lead Reports as needed
- Update Route Card information
- Update customer information in computer
- Attend periodic meetings to discuss sales goals, new products, incentive programs, etc.
- Effectively communicate work related issues with other departments (merchandising, customer service, operations) in a timely manner.
- Keep an accurate and up-to-date route book.
III. SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop thorough product knowledge by attending regular in-house training programs.
- Be attired 100% of working time in company approved clothing.
- Be on Company premises and at job station by assigned time.
- Follow all other company policies not specifically outlined in this description.
Qualifications
IV. QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- College credits or equivalent preferred.
- Bilingual speaking English/Spanish preferred.
Experience/Requirements:
- One year minimum merchandising or delivery experience.
- A minimum of 2 to 3 years sales experience preferably in the beverage industry.
- Ability to lift up to 140 lbs. on a regular basis (i.e. kegs)
- Must have valid drivers’ license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Capable of driving a vehicle for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to bend, lift, sit, squat and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess strong math, time management and customer service skills.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance creating a favorable public image and maintain proper conduct.
