SUMMARY:
We seek a highly skilled, dynamic, team-oriented, compassionate Medical Doctor (MD) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will specialize in pre-operative physical evaluations, which are critical in optimizing patients for surgical procedures. In this role, the provider will conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments to evaluate patient readiness for surgery, identify and mitigate potential risks, and ensure compliance with pre-surgical protocols. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· Perform comprehensive pre-operative physical exams, including obtaining detailed medical histories and conducting physical assessments.
· Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., lab work, EKGs, chest X-rays) to evaluate patient health in the context of surgical risk.
· Identify potential health issues that could impact surgery and collaborate with the patient care team, including the patient’s surgical team, primary care provider, and appropriate specialists.
· Develop individualized care plans to optimize patient health pre-operatively, including recommending lifestyle changes or further evaluations as required.
· Educate patients and families about the surgical process, anesthesia, and post-operative expectations.
· Ensure all required documentation, including history, physical exams, and test results, is completed accurately and submitted on time.
· Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless pre-operative preparation.
· Prescribe pre-surgical medications as necessary and post-surgical protocol medications per Steindler physician protocols, adhering to state and federal guidelines.
· Guide pre-operative fasting, medication adjustments, and other preparatory instructions.
· Maintain compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory standards.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
· This full-time position has standard business hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, work hours may vary based on company needs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work in specialized pre-operative clinics.
- Regular hours with occasional flexibility to accommodate patient needs or urgent evaluations.
- Minimal physical demands but may require standing or moving for extended periods.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Doctor of Medicine degree (MD/DO) from an accredited program.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (FNP, AGNP, or other relevant specialization).
- MD or DO with training in Family Practice or Internal Medicine.
- Medical License/Certification must be current and unrestricted.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Experience: Experience in pre-operative, primary care, or internal medicine preferred.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and patient education skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership abilities. Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.
