At Mercy, working here is more than just a job—it's a family and a way of life. Responsibilities To perform the preparation of specimens received for testing in the Laboratory. This includes separating blood components into the appropriate samples for in-house testing and / or send-out testing. To provide courteous and complete responses to inquiries and requests. To process mail for specific clients and locations. To support the Laboratory in maintaining supply inventory. May also be required to peform phlebotomy for inpatients, outpatients, and on-call outreach sites. Requirements EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Education and Work Experience : Must possess a high school diploma or GED. 1 Year in Hospital Laboratory or Reference Laboratory preferred. 1 Year Phlebotomy experience preferred. Typing skills, computer experience, some science education preferred. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS License Requirements : N / A Certification Requirements : N / A Age Specific Care Provided For : N / A Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following : Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel Microsoft Outlook Meditech (if applicable to position) Epic (if applicable to position) Performance Manager / NetLearning Laboratory Information System, such as EPIC Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public. Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Other Requirements : Must possess skills in Communication and Customer Service Preferred. Must be able to work under stress and with shifting priorities and interruptions. Must have familiarity with keyboard. Ability to multitask in answering the phone and maintaining other work functions.
