Responsibilities
- Coordinates all admissions paperwork, assuring accurate and timely completion of initial paperwork, dissemination of patient information to appropriate departments, etc.
- Assures rooms are ready for new admissions and coordinates services for patients as requested, e.g., phones, television, newspaper, etc.
- Monitors, orders and stocks supplies, forms, etc. for unit, assuring that supplies are available and stocked in an orderly manner.
- Maintains patient records by noting allergies on all doctor’s orders sheets; labels all pages appropriately. Completes billing for all patient supplies.
- Breaks down patient records on discharge, including removal of care plans and medication and treatment kardexes in a timely manner.
- Answers call lights at console, re-assures patient and delivers requests to appropriate staff.
- Retrieves lab data and alerts appropriate staff for follow up.
- Maintains patient care Kardex in an up-to-date manner.
- Makes appointments for patients and verifies transportation arrangements.
- Answers phones, assigned data entry and paperwork and accomplishes all copying, faxing, etc. accurately and in a timely manner. Maintains unit files and bulletin boards.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Minimum one (1) year of experience
