Overview
Job Title: Machinist
Job Location: Williamsport, PA
Under general supervision, sets up and operates a limited number of standard machine tools. Works from prints using a variety of hand and precision measuring instruments; determines machine feed speeds to perform precision machining operations on a variety of components.
Responsibilities
- Aware of and consistently follows all shop safety protocols and regulations.
- Perform raw stock order filling using horizontal and vertical band saws, abrasive cut-off machines, shears, and hand tools.
- Competently and safely uses the hoists within the department.
- Responsible for keeping cutting equipment operable by changing cut-off abrasive wheels, band saw blades, etc.
- Perform deburring parts Buffer-Tumbler-Under-Scope-Bench work.
- Performs less complete machine operations using a limited number of machine tools such as drill presses, lathes, power saws, shears, grinders, punch presses, honing machines, etc.
- Change and/or sharpen cutting tool during operations with supervision.
- Maintain tolerances using dial indicators, micrometers, pin gauges and other measuring equipment.
- Perform duties in accordance with Facilities Workmanship Standards and Aid Manual.
- Make simple setups with supervision.
- Communicate any known operation process irregularities to supervisor.
- Maintains work area and tools in a clean and orderly manner daily.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years relevant experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic math
- Demonstrated gross and fine motor skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of precision measuring tools
- Demonstrated competence in basic math
- Able to read/understand engineering drawings
- Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
