Come join our Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance team where we are committed to doing what’s best for our customers. Be part of a team filled with bright, resourceful, and determined employees who play a vital role in regulatory development, certification and compliance activities. We are looking for a Product Investigator to join our Safety Compliance and Product Analysis team. These critically important positions are primarily responsible for conducting comprehensive technical investigations related to vehicle safety and compliance.

The Product Investigator will guide the organization through the defect determination process for field issues and will present findings/recommendations to senior management for a decision. In this role, the Product Investigator will learn about the safety-related performance expectations for our products and will learn how those expectations affect our product designs, manufacturing, and supplier quality processes. The issues being studied will challenge and develop the investigator’s abilities to distill data, draw conclusions and recommend actions. Sound judgment, excellent communication skills and the ability to drive decisions through consensus and influence change are a must.

Day to day job responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Working with internal teams (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, quality, service, and legal) to gather critical data as part of the investigation
  • Leading interactions with internal and external teams to find the root cause and determine corrective action plans
  • Accessing a variety of advanced (‘big data’) tools and receive training in advanced data analysis
  • Searching and analyzing field data from corporate databases to support investigative work
  • Preparing documents, reports, presentations, and demonstrations for discussions with management and/or governmental agencies

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in automotive engineering; such as releasing, resident engineering, quality, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse cross functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to critical deadlines
  • Self-starter with the ability to adjust and adapt to changing inputs within an investigation
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced problem solving and root cause analysis skills
